After five long years West Indies are finally touring India again for a Test series. Many fans might already be thinking this time India will win for sure, but do not forget West Indies have shocked India before.
Let us take a look at how glorious the West Indies once were, the full schedule and venues for the 2025 West Indies Tour of India, and which betting options apart from India 2-0 could give you better chances to win money.
Until October 2025, India and the West Indies have played 100 Test matches against each other. West Indies have won 30, while India have managed only 23, and 47 have ended in a draw. That means:
West Indies win rate: 30%
India's win rate: 23%
Draw rate: 47%
West Indies have the better record, but most of that advantage came before 2002. Back then, they had a powerful batting lineup and a bowling attack that went from deadly spinners in the early years to a consistent pace battery later on.
That combination created the dominance people still call their golden era.
Everton Weekes, Clyde Walcott, and Frank Worrell, known together as the “Three Ws”, were world-class batters in the 1940s and 50s.
They scored runs consistently and took West Indies cricket to the top stage internationally.
The 60s and early 70s saw stars like Rohan Kanhai, Garry Sobers, and Clive Lloyd keeping the batting firepower high.
On the bowling side, Lance Gibbs spun the ball brilliantly while Wes Hall and Charlie Griffith provided the pace threat.
From the late 70s West Indies unleashed Andy Roberts, Michael Holding, Joel Garner and Malcolm Marshall together. This became one of the most feared fast bowling lineups in history.
Even on pitches that did not suit them they could dominate, winning 12 out of 16 Test series in that period and completely changing how cricket was played.
After the golden generation of West Indies players retired, their Test performances in India started to drop.
Since 2002 West Indies have not won a single Test match on Indian soil. India’s home win rate against them in this period has reached 80%.
Series results in India since 2002
Although the West Indies have struggled in recent series and currently sit at the bottom of the WTC points table, some individual players have shown they can compete with top teams.
Their participation in the 2025 IPL proves their skills are on par with Indian players:
Among them, Shamar Joseph stands out the most. In the 2025 series, he took 19 maidens in 3 matches, tying for 5th place with teammate Jayden Seales on the Most Maidens leaderboard.
He also showed great batting form with a strike rate of 200 in an innings, scoring 44 runs off 22 balls including four fours and four sixes against Australia.
India’s home advantage is clear. Their squad is stable and well balanced in both batting and bowling. This makes India the favourite and the series odds are expected between 1.3 and 1.5, a safe bet choice.
Since the series comes soon after the Asia Cup, team line-ups might see some changes. Also, West Indies players have shown good form sometimes, so a 1-1 draw is possible and can be worth a small bet.
The chance of West Indies causing a big upset by beating India is low. But if you want higher odds you can hedge your bets by placing a small wager on West Indies to win 2-0 while putting most of your money on India to win the series on betting sites that allow both bets.
This year West Indies will play a two-match Test series in India starting on October 2 and ending on October 14.
